all smiles

here is hatcher with his cute smile yesterday...today we had quite the eventful day. i was impressed with myself for already cleaning the fridge out and running the dishwasher, dryer, and vacuum cleaner all by 9 am. hatcher and i were making some good progress on house cleaning. :) but then, hatcher took a spill into the hearth busting his little mouth and breaking 3 out of 4 of his top front teeth. :( so we got an emergency appointment with the pediodontist for noon. (the wording sounds so calm and collected, but really the whole situation was quite stressful as you can imagine a bleeding, crying baby and a scared, i-don't-know-what-to-do mom.) we were at the dr for a couple of hours and they did x-rays and applied stuff to the exposed nerves, etc. hatcher did really good there. he explored the whole place, played with the train table, chatted with the doctor, and even tried to turn off the receptionist's computer...he knows the exact button to hold in! he did not do as well when they were working on his teeth, but he is only 13 months old and had no idea why he was being held down and all these strange people's hands were in his mouth, so i'm not holding it against him :) here he is sitting up on the table like a big boy... he is doing fine though his mommy is missing his cute smile...or maybe i should say his old cute smile, because now he just has a new cute smile. he will always be a cute guy to his mommy! we have to go back to the doctor in a few weeks and then again in another few weeks for check-ups of different things before they will do any repair work on his toothies. his 2 front top teeth were the ones that have the most damage. His left one got the bottom broken off of it and is really jagged. His right one took the worst of the fall and got a big chunk knocked out. poor little guy. i was vacuuming right close to him when he fell and i saw it happen. i know things like this happen to little ones all the time, but that doesn't make it any easier. oh well. i got some cute pictures of him yesterday playing outside...

I'm sorry about Hatcher! Sam has taken lots of spills like that. The latest one was when he ran into the edge of the fridge with his eye! He was running and couldn't make the turn because he was sliding on the rug, and he ran full-force into the corner. It healed without too much of a scar, but it wasn't fun. I know how you feel!

I know it was all very traumatic for you--believe me! :o) But you guys handled it so well. Bless ALL of your hearts! And he's still one of the top 2 cutest kids on the planet!
